DT
This half term we have been learning all about what makes a good dip and what makes a good dipper. We have tasted lots of different dips to see what we like the taste of, what the texture is like and the aroma. We then designed, made and evaluated out our dips. It was lots of fun and we got to try something new! It was slightly tricky working in a group to design our dips as we had to find ingredients we all liked.
Titanic!
We are thoroughly enjoying our topic learning all about the Titanic. To get into character in preparation to write diaries we have been taking part in some acting sessions.
We worked in groups to recreate a section of the voyage. Can you guess which is which?
Arriving at the dock.
Spending time on the ship.
Hearing the iceberg hit.
Getting into a life boat.
Rowing away and watching the ship sink.
Design Technology - Dips and Dippers
We have started a new topic in our DT lessons. We are looking at different dips and different dippers. Today, Tuesday 10th May, we evaluated dips that are commonly bought and consumed in the UK. We learn of their origins and described them. We thought about appearance, texture, smell and taste for each one. We had a great afternoon.
"This was the best lesson I have ever done!" Finley K
"I love learning about food" Ariana P

Science Week -09.05.22
This week we are celebrating Science week. The whole school have had an assembly learning all about climate change. Then we got to do a workshop looking at how we can help to reduce our transport. We had a go at creating lots of different types of transport using our bodies and answered questions on ways to help the planet by walking, cycling or using public transport.
It was lots of fun!
Science Tops Time
Today, Tuesday 10th May, we used our Tops time to celebrate Science week with a fun experiment.
We dropped Mentos into Coke and watched the chemical reaction create a fountain of fizz! It was amazing.
We were super excited!
Today's Science Tops time was all about exploring gravity.
From paper, we made and flew helicopters! It was really fun and the children loved experimenting with their paper helicopter and paper clips.
"with paper clips on it wont spin as much"
"i think it will spin slower"
Thursday 12th May
Today was SKITTLES day!
We created rainbows with skittles.
You put skittles around the edge of a plate and then add warm water. The colour disolves from the Skittles and runs into the middle of the plate. We made some lovely, colourful patterns.
Eggsperiment
On Monday we put an egg into vinegar and left it to soak.
The children made their predictions:
- The egg will explode.
- The shell will disappear
- The egg will turn hard
- The egg will bounce
- The egg will pop
Today we took it out the vinegar and tested it out...here are the results.

We dropped the egg from 10cm - bounced
We dropped it from 15 cm and it POPPED!
History - John Ray
We have been learning all about John Ray and why he is a significant person from our local area.
Who was John Ray? Where did he live? What did he do during his life?
Friday 6th May
We have been learning about Giuseppe Arcimboldo.
Last week we collaged fruit versions of ourselves and this week we have experimented with printing to recreate a famous piece of art.
