Spring 2

Thursday 31st March

This week, during English lessons, we have been learning about Cinquain poems. This type of poetry uses syllables in a pattern of 2, 4, 6, 8, 2 and is written in five lines in the shape of a diamond. The children have worked together to write, rehearse and perform their own Cinquain poem linked to Spring and Easter. We hope you enjoy the poems.

WALA: Amelia Earhart

The children have been learning about Great Women in history. Today we have looked at Amelia Earhart. The children were excited to learn all about her life and mysterious disappearance. We used our sketching skills to sketch the other half of Amelia's face.

Have a look at our lovely work below:

Geography - Fieldwork

Today we used our new map skills to follow a simple route around our local area. The children used a key to identify human and physical features in the surrounding environment. They also improved their maps by adding on additional features they spotted. It was a lovely sunny walk!

Dermot O'Leary

Today we have the pleasure of attending a zoom meeting with Dermot O'Leary to talk about his new book 'Toto and the Ninja Cat and the Legend of the Wildcat'. The children listened as Dermot talked about his new book and then got the chance to follow along with the illustrator and draw Toto! Have a look at some of their amazing drawings below.

Week 2 - World Book Day

Thursday 3rd March

Today, Penguins celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as a character from a book.  We have read a lot of penguin themed books in Penguins so the adults joined in and dressed up as penguins! We were absolutely amazed by the children's wonderful costumes. During the morning, we completed book related activities. The children enjoyed solving clues to find a code to open the cupboard full of book tokens.  They tried very hard to solve them carefully.

Afterwards, Penguins designed their own book token for a national competition.

What a wonderful day we had!
