Good Morning!
After a good night’s sleep we are all raring to go this morning.
We’ve had a wonderful breakfast - some of us had cereal, toast and a cooked breakfast! After eating, we then made our lunches: sandwiches, fruit, crisps and a biscuit for today :-)

Both groups are off out to check their mammal traps now. Fingers crossed we have caught something

Small mammal trapping

Success!!

At 9:30, we went over to check our mammal traps. Every trap which had closed contained a hidden mammal.

Our first clue was that the doors were closed. Then we took the tunnel off and checked if there was poo in it. Finally, we emptied out the hay and food to see what we had caught.

After looking at our catch in a clear bag, we carefully released them back where we found them

Hidden Histories

Today, both groups took part in the Hidden Histories sessions. One of the sessions involved a walk into East Bergholt, where we discovered what life was like in the Georgian era and the village’s links to John Constable.

In the other session, we became history investigators and explored famous landscapes, ancient buildings and people of the past. We followed in John Constable’s footsteps and learnt about his life by completing a treasure trail to find objects and then completed a drama.

The local blacksmith brought an anvil over to show us.

Dinner time! Pizza, wedges and veg followed by chocolate cake. Lots of full tummies

We finished off our second day with a campfire. Everyone wrapped up warm and we headed down to the campfire site. We began by learning a few campfire songs: Get Funky, Pirate Went To Sea and Boom Chicka Boom.
Next, we enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate topped with marshmallows and whipped cream (if wanted).
Finally, we played a riddle game. Only Bertie managed to work out the rule, well done!

Is that a Jackdaw, Robin or Wren? Nope, it’s a White Court Campfire!
