Extra-Curricular Clubs

Extra-Curricular Activities

Children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be given the chance to sign up to an extra-curricular activity on Tuesday 14th January.

Clubs at White Court School are offered voluntarily by all teaching staff.
There is a range of activities which include:
–  the School Netball and Football Team which compete in local leagues *
–  many clubs for children to learn and experience new skills.

We will encourage children to have 2 or 3 choices in mind before signing up, so they are not disappointed.  Please also talk through these clubs with your children.

Clubs will be on the following days from 3.15 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. (unless otherwise stated on the consent form):

  • Wednesday 22nd January

  • Wednesday 29th January

  • Wednesday 5th February

  • Wednesday 12th February

  • Wednesday 26th February

  • Wednesday 4th March

  • Wednesday 18th March

  • Wednesday 25th March

There will not be any clubs on 11th March due to Parents’ Evening.

Many thanks to the teachers that have volunteered to run one of these activities.

* To ensure the football team is selected in a fair and open manner, not on a first come, first served basis.  2 teachers voluntarily use their lunchtimes to hold several rounds of trials.

One session will be for Year 5 children on pitch, one session will be for Year 6 children on pitch and one session will be for goalkeepers.  There are normally approximately 90 children (or over) that try out for the 18 available places.  From these 3 sessions, approximately 30 children will be invited back to the second round of trials.  Understandably, only how they perform at these trials can be taken into consideration, not how they play at weekends or who they play for.

For all of these sessions the staff give up their own time to try and select the right children, in the same way that they give up their own time to train the team and organise matches. We are very grateful towards our staff for this, as we know many schools now don’t have a school football team or extra curricular activities  because the staff are not willing to use up their own time when their current workload is already increasing in demands.
