Flatford Blog 2024

With Group 2 safely on the coach travelling back to Braintree, I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge well done to all of the Year 5 children!

Taking part in a school residential is a big step! Many of you overcame anxieties and worries to attend the trip and you should all be incredibly proud of yourself! Behaviour and manners were impressive and we got some lovely feedback from the Flatford Mill staff and members of the public who clearly agree! While away, not only did you learn things that are linked to our school curriculum, you also grew as a person; you learnt things about yourself and increased your independence, you worked in small groups and big teams, helping each other out and showing compassion. These are all skills which will be important as you get older.

We hope that you spend the weekend sharing your Flatford adventures and memories with your families, so many of you said you would like to take your family and show them around! Please let us know if you do!

I would also like to thank all the staff who accompanied the children to Flatford Mill. Without their generosity of time, kindness and patience (and lack of sleep!) these trips would not be possible! We all had a great time and it is wonderful to see the journey the children go on while away.

An especially big shout out to Miss Lomas, who took charge of updating the Blog. We know the residential is also a big step for many parents, so we hope it reassured you that the children were happy and enjoying themselves! It is also a wonderful way for the children to document their trip.

Well done everyone, we hope these memories stay with you!

Mrs Brewster
