Trip to Chatham Green
We had lots of fun exploring the woodland at Chatham Green. We went insect exploring, did den building and went on a nature walk.
In Maths, we worked with a partner to solve some problems about time. We used what we had learnt over the last couple of weeks to help us.
In English, we played some spelling games on the Chrome book. We revised suffixes.
As part of our English unit, we made disgusting sandwiches. We will be writing instructions for how to make them next week. Would you like to eat them?
In Science, we have started the unit about plants. We talked about what we knew already and worked with a partner to create a poster.

Making buildings in Art
In English, we have been planning and writing shape poems. We wrote them about Summer and used an outline of a sun. We drafted our poems first and then published them with pen. We are all very proud of our poems.
As part of our Art unit, we started to create our own architectural structures. We used paper, tape and lolly sticks to explore how to make a structure. We are looking forward to making our own buildings next week.
In Science, we explored food chains. We talked about producers and consumers. We drew our own food chains.
This week we have been busy writing a diary entry based on the book 'Journey'. We created our own places that the character travelled to. We have also been using the column method for subtraction. In Art, we looked at an architect called Hundertwasser and copied elements of his work.

We used the information from our tally chart to create a block graph. We used 2graph on Purple Mash.

Art
We started a new unit 'Be an Architect'. We drew the Taj Mahal using pen.

We created collage dragons. We are going to use our creations to inspire our writing. Look at for photos of the finished dragons.

World Book Day 2024
Creating Supertatoes
This week, we have been exploring the story 'How to Catch a Star' by Oliver Jeffers, we have been learning about fractions in Maths and in Music we used the computers to create tunes. We used Purple Mash to help us.
In Guided Reading, we walked around the classroom and wrote facts about what we knew already about the Great Fire of London. We created a Graffitti Wall.
On Tuesday, we had a great day learning about the Great Fire of London. We wrote facts about the main events, did movement along to a story, made paper houses and created artwork inspired by the fire.
In Art, we looked at the printmaker Xgaco'c X'are. We looked at one of his creations 'Two Giraffes and Two Birds' and used his ideas to inspire our own drawings.
In Computing, we explored 2Go on Purple Mash.
Spring Term 2024
We have had a great start to the Spring term. We have been learning about money, planning losing stories, thinking about what animals need in order to survive and learning about what an algorithm is.
In Art, we started a unit and drew sketches from photos.

Forest School Fun
Hummingbird have had a great week. They enjoyed their Forest School session with Mrs Skinner and explored den building, they investigated which materials were waterproof, completed Pudsey Bear pictures on Purple Mash and loved watching the Pantomime. Hummingbird class who wrote instructions and completed work on addition and subtraction.

Remembrance 2023
We talked about Remembrance and why people wear poppies at this time of year. We created our own artwork.
Autumn Term 2
We learnt about Guy Fawkes and created our own firework pictures. Used pastels and chalks and added a city skyline to our pictures.
Explore and Draw - Leaf creations in pencil, pen and Brusho
For Art, we went outside and collected different items. We used them to create our own artwork, shapes and patterns. Next week we are going to be sketching what we have collected.
Spelling Parent Event Sept 2023
We have had a very busy week. We wrote our own journey stories, started our Explore and Draw project in Art and explored why materials are used for different things in Science.

Wednesday 13th September
We spent the afternoon talking about Roald Dahl. It would have been his birthday. We shared some facts about his life. Did you know he wrote his stories on yellow paper? We listened to some extracts from Charlie and the Chocolate factory. We also watched a scene where the BFG was catching dreams. We designed our own dream jars.
