During week 8, the children read their extended poems to Year 2. We will also be turning our poems into a book to gift to the Year 2 class that we read to.

In week 7, the children used secondary sources of information to research how people stayed safe during an air-raid: they used non-fiction books and search engines. The children learned all about the blackout, gas masks, sirens, shelters and ARP wardens.

During week 6, the children collaged their enlarged chimps using a variety of black and white line drawings from illustrations that appeared in Charles Dicken's classics. In computing, the children learned how search engines are ranked and how to use them effectively. After that, they completed an internet scavenger hunt that included searching for videos and videos.

In Week 5, the children conducted a shadow experiment looking at how the size of the shadow changes as the object moves closer to the light source. They also reenacted the Battle of Britain learning how Britain used Radar to identify when the Luftwaffe were crossing the English Channel so they could be prepared and ultimately become successful during that time.

In week 4, the children had some fun with mirrors in our Science lesson. They were tasked to reflect light round a mirror maze applying the law of reflection.

Week 3 saw the start of our first art unit: 2d and 3d drawing. We studied 3 different artists and their work. We were then asked to display what we had learned and our own analysis in our sketch books as visual notes.

During week 2, some of the children went off to do 'Bikeability' and learned how to safely ride on the roads around the estate. The rest of us completed some Maths investigations including making a 3x3 cube that contained each of 9 colours on each face. We had a couple of successful cubes :)

In week 1 the children discussed their growth mindset and reflecting on their own learning. We set them a task to put a broken up square back together in a time limit to test both ideas. We then had some fun turning the pieces into animals.
