In week 5, in P.E., the children applied their understanding of gymnastic shapes and practised a range of jumps: straight, tuck, star, pike and straddle. We also then demonstrated those jumps from different heights and attempted to land on our feet.
In week 4, we were lucky enough to have some amazing parent helpers come in to help us construct our CAM toys. They look amazing and the children thoroughly loved their DT day!
During week 3, Chimps problem solved during Maths. They had to work with a partner to solve a range of problems involving area, perimeter and volume. We used laminate sheets and whiteboard pens so we could make jotting on the problems.
We also had a little visit from Year 2 so they could read us some of their English that they had completed. We gave them lots of compliments.
Finally, we painted our Cam Toy frames ready for construction next week.
In week 2, the children learned all about textbooks. In groups, they looked through a variety of textbooks and noted features they found in most of them. We will use these features when we write our own textbooks next week.
During Week 1, the children started their programming unit on Scratch. They learned what variables are and how they can be set and changed. The children then created their own variables using Sprites of their choice.
