Week 4
Thank you to all of you that were able to make it to our parent event. We had a great afternoon performing our recorders and our dances. We also had lots of fun bombing our Anderson Shelters! Look at the photos to see how our shelters survived (or didn't!).

Week 3
DT- Planning and building a shelter
In our group we designed an Anderson Shelter and then used a range of materials to make it. We thought about how to make it as strong as possible to prevent it being destroyed by a bomb.
We will see how successful we have been during the parent event on Monday!
WEEK 2
World War 2 Day
We had an amazing WW2 experience today. We imagined we were evacuees being sent to the countryside to keep us safe from The Blitz. During the morning we were in a 1940s school and experienced an air raid as well as a gas attack. We had to quickly and silently get under the tables. We also wrote using a fountain pen and ink which was difficult to do without making a mess! The teacher was very strict and some of us got into trouble and got the cane!!
This afternoon we went shopping in the village. We had 2 shillings to spend and had to carry our identity cards and ration books with us. There was a chemist, greengrocer, fishmonger, baker, butcher, post office and a cafe where we enjoyed spam and jam sandwiches. We had to take shelter for another air raid but luckily we all stayed safe.

We explored different types of arches and then in groups experimented building a bridge and adding in an arch.
The arch made our bridges much stronger!
For Remembrance Day we learnt & recited 'In Flanders Fields'
