Autumn 1 Week 8
We have been using our observational drawing techniques to create a wax resist picture using crayons and water colours.
Autumn 1 Week 7
This week we have been adding 10 more and 10 less.
Autumn 1 Term 6
Florence Nightingale Day! Thank you to all those parents who helped make this day so special.
Autumn 1 Week 6
In Science, we have been learning about John McAdam who helped make roads better a long time ago!
Before he started his work, roads were very bumpy and muddy. Horses and carts would get stuck, and people couldn’t travel easily. John had a clever idea he used large rocks, small stones and fine shingle. He showed that if you spread little stones in layers, the road would stay smooth and not wash away when it rained. Because of him, people could travel faster, and roads became much safer.
We tested his theory using biscuits, raisins and chocolate to make our own roads.
Autumn 1 Week 5
We did it! BINGO!!!!!! Butterfly class worked as a team to collected everything for the Opal bingo competition. To celebrate we spent time just as a class in the enormous sand pit and mud kitchen.
Thank you to all of you who helped us :-)
In PE, we have been travelling in different ways, high, medium and low using the apparatus. We have also included our shapes, balances and safe jumping as we have moved around the room.
Autumn 1 Week 4
We read our non-chronological reports about Butterflies to Ladybirds and Wolves!
In Science this week, we experimented with different materials to see if they would bend, stretch, twist and squash. We discussed why different materials are used for different purposes according to their properties.
Autumn 1 Week 3
This week, we followed in the footsteps of Yayoi Kusama a Japanese artist who uses spots to create amazing art work.
Autumn 1 Week 2
In Science, we have been learning about materials. Today we compared the strength of four different materials - paper, card, wood and tin foil. We did this by working in teams to build bridges. Once we had finished building them, we tested them by balancing cars on top.
Autumn Term 1 Week 1
Today in Computing, we explored self identity and ways we can represent this. We designed our own avatars. We then enjoyed guessing whose avatar belongs to whom in the class and saying why!
In PE we learnt new gymnastic shapes such as the dish, straddle, arch, star.
