Week 7
We are doing brilliantly with our recorder playing! We have learnt Three Note Jam and We will Rock You and both are sounding great. We have also been learning how to read the notation as we play.
Remember to practise both tunes with the backing tracks, which can be found in the music section of the Year 6 web page.
This week we've collaged our Hedgehogs

Week 5
In History we learnt about The Battle of Britain. We went outside and re-enacted some battle raids. Some of us were RAF bombers and others were the enemy, The Luftwaffe. During the first raid, The RAF were unable to successfully bomb many enemy planes, but the second time, with the help of The Radar system, they managed to defeat many more. The radar system ensured they were prepared and gave instructions to help.
This showed us how the radar system was instrumental in helping with the huge success of The Battle of Britain, making it the turning point of the war.

For science this week we investigated how shadows are formed, and how big or small they are depending on where they are in relation to a light source. We worked in teams measuring our shadow puppets and found that our predictions were correct. Great scientific working Hedgehogs :)

Week 3
We have enjoyed lots of Art this week.
On Tuesday we created our own version of Yayoi Kusama’s Butterfly painting. We used coloured pencils to create a patterned background and dots of paints to decorate our hedgehog.
On Wednesday we started our new unit of work ‘2D drawing and 3D sculptures’ by exploring the works of artists Chuck Close, Lubaina Himid and Clare Youngs. We looked at the techniques they used in their art work including photo-realism, collage and the use of grids to create enlargements.

Week 2
We started our World War 2 topic on Tuesday. We created mind maps to show what we know already about the areas that were shown around the room and thought of questions for what else we want to find out. Some of us are very knowledgeable already!

Bikeability

While lots of us were off on Bikeability, we completed a maths investigation & took part in 4 lego stem challenges. Great teamwork guys well done :)

Week 1
It's been quite a week in Hedgehog class but we are all settled and raring to go. Our work on circles has made us all dizzy so check back in next week to see what we've been up to. Well done to all of Hedgehog class for a fantastic week!
