Butterfly Class Gallery

 The children enjoyed exploring our school grounds through Topography, Forest School and Maisie's Garden. They collected a range of natural items, such as leaves, twigs, stones and flowers, to help identify and compare the different features of the landscape.

Butterflies became real-life geographers this week as they headed out to complete a traffic survey along London Road. The children carefully counted vehicles and recorded their findings, but the survey sparked even more curiosity!

They had lots of fantastic questions:
Why were there so many cars on the road?
Why did we only see one bicycle?
Why did all the buses seem to arrive at the same time?

The children also wondered whether the results would be different if we carried out the survey at another time of day. It has certainly got us thinking about how and why traffic patterns change!

 Times Table Rockstars Day!

We had an amazing time at Chatham Green! We went pond dipping, bug hunting and became busy bees. Thank you so much to all of the adults that helped support us on our trip.

 In PSHE, we have been learning about compliments so we wrote each other one.

 This week we put all our new fielding, batting and bowling skills together and played a class game of rounders!

 The children designed and created their own ocean habitats, carefully thinking about where different sea creatures belong and how ecosystems like coral reefs fit within the ocean environment. They showed great creativity in bringing their ideas to life, using a range of materials and imaginative designs. Throughout the activity, they worked collaboratively, sharing ideas and supporting one another.

 We worked with a partner to create our own google slide document all about our favourite things.

 We made our own mini-beast music today using different instruments.

 A dragon arrived in our classroom this week! We will be writing leaflets about them over the next few weeks but we thought we should learn how to draw them as well!

Experiments have included dancing raisins, volcano’s big and small, magically appearing pictures, skittle rainbows and growing a rainbow.

 We have been learning about germs and how important it is to wash your hands. Our pepper experiment proved how important it is to wash your hands with soap. Try this experiment at home.

 We have been learning more about perseverance and resilience in PSHE using our ReflectEd colours. The children decided what colour they felt at the start of the task and then after they had used different methods to help them practise. All children moved up a colour! We also practised using the word 'yet.' For example 'I don't know how to do that.......yet.'

 This week in Science we have been learning about what basic needs animals and humans need to survive.

 The children have been learning simple yoga poses that help them improve balance, strength, and flexibility. They have also learnt how yoga can help them relax, focus on their breathing, and feel calm.

 This week we used what we have learnt about bridges to make our own out of sugar cubes! We are engineers!

What Does the Nativity story teach Christians about God and Jesus?

She told the Nativity story and discussed what the story might mean to Christians. 

 

 In Maths this week, the children have been learning how to exchange when subtracting numbers e.g. 37-19.

 We made their own poppies and helped create a beautiful class wreath.
We talked about why we wear poppies and how they help us remember those who died in the war. Together, we showed respect and took a moment to reflect on the bravery and sacrifice of others. 

Odd Sock Day - As part of Anti-Bullying Week, we wore odd socks to school today. We discussed how this was to celebrate our differences. We spoke about choosing respect - treating other people with kindness despite them being different or having different views. We designed our own odd socks with our favourite colours, patterns and designs. 

 This week, we have adding two 2 digits numbers together practically using tens and ones then drawing the tens and ones under each number.
