Goodbye Year 6 - we will miss you!
If your children are in school, please can you send them in with a carrier bag or two to collect their Year 6 books to bring home on Thursday 9th July. If your children are not in school, there will be a time and date sent out for when you can come and collect them from the office.
Over the last 3 weeks of term, the children in school on Thursdays and Fridays will be completing a number of transition activities. Below you will find the resources for each week in the folders for children who are not coming in to school to complete at your leisure. PLEASE DO NOT DO THESE ACTIVITIES IF YOUR CHILDREN ARE COMING BACK TO SCHOOL.
Extra (optional) academic tasks for all children Mondays-Wednesdays
If you would still like your children to complete academic tasks and activities Monday-Wednesday each week, BBC Bitesize have some fantastic daily lessons you can complete: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/tags/zncsscw/year-6-and-p7-lessons
Also, as the children didn't complete last year's SATs as mocks you can use these to aid some additional learning. Papers and answer schemes can be found here...
NOTLEY HIGH TRANSITION WORK
Notley High School have provided some transition activities for the Year 6 children that they can complete Monday -Wednesday. Link: https://www.notleyhigh.com/files/2020/Year_6_activity_booklet.pdf
A poem for Year 6
This week, each day, you would have had a test
Been in school, to try your best
Alas, it was not meant to be
You may wonder, ‘what’ll happen to me?’
Now here are some words from us to you
And each one of them: unconditionally true
You’ve all worked so hard this year
Your perseverance and dedication has been clear
Truly, you are, all wonderful students
Prepared yourself with grit and prudence
GPS, Maths and Reading Comp too
Your heart and desire would’ve seen you through
But we don’t need the SATs to feel as proud as we do
Of each and every one of you
Now together we’re faced with a new kind of test
Discovering strengths we never knew we possessed
Appreciating little things, like walks in the park
Creating our futures and making our mark
From this, you will learn more than you ever know
And better people you’ll become, as you continue to grow
Success is the journey, not destination
What a ride you’ve had on your White Court education!
Tests are forgotten, but mem’ries persist
Secondary school – next on the list
A moral from this, to make you think
Not all of life’s lessons can be written in ink.
Miss you all
