Tuesday 9th June
Hi 5H, hope you all had a good weekend! I managed to go on a long run with my brother at the weekend, however we got caught in the rain 6 miles from home so we got very wet! As some of you have seen, on Friday you were told which teacher you have next year. You have been extremely lucky to get Mr Pruce next year, he is a fantastic teacher, with lots of experience and a great sense of humour! Over the next few weeks we will be changing our home learning to transition projects/work for you to do for Year 6, which is exciting! Myself, Mrs Rolfe and Mrs Greely were in last week and we are in this week again looking after the key worker children! You might not hear from us as regularly now on the phone but if you have any questions, please email us on Purple Mash and we can then reply to you or ring you. Hope you are all good and staying positive. Missing you all as well! Mr Hopgood
Monday 1st June
Morning 5H, I hope you all had a nice Half Term break, hopefully I will get to hear what you've been up to this week when I call you. I had a very busy Half Term, I started my new project which is to extend my patio in my garden. so I had great fun hiring a micro excavator and digging up part of my garden to lay the new patio. I've levelled it all and next weekend I am going to lay the paving slabs, wish me luck! I have been on a few runs around where I live which has been good, keeps me healthy and happy by doing lots of exercise. The weather has been so lovely and warm so I have been able to go on lots of walks around the countryside. I have also had quite a few barbecues which I absolutely love, lots of burgers have been cooked and eaten this week. I set up my cameras this weekend in the nature reserve so I am going to leave them out this week and see what I capture on them. I am in school this week, helping to prepare the school ready for Foundation and Year 1 children and I am also in school on Wednesday with Mrs Rolfe looking after our Key Workers children. I will be making my phone calls this week so I hope to be hearing from you all. Hope you are all staying happy and positive.
Monday 27th April
Good morning 5H I hope you all had a good weekend, I can’t believe how nice the weather was! I had a busy weekend, I ran 5km on Sunday morning to raise some money for the NHS, it was very though but worth the effort! I washed my cars to make them nice and shiny for this week! I uploaded your home learning work for this week and I’ve also added a few extra bits for those that finish their work quickly or want a challenge. Lastly, the other teachers and I got up to some mischief with throwing water! Click the link below to watch it!
Hope you all have a good day, remember to try and stick to a routine and to keep your brains stimulated with the work we have set! I will be making my phone calls again so if you have any questions, you can ask away!
New Badger Video
Thursday 23rd April
Hi everyone, hope you all had a good day! I have nearly managed to ring all of you this week I have a few more to do today, so if you haven't heard from me, today is the day. Today I did my usual daily exercise, school work and once I had done that I had half an our on my PS4 playing FIFA 20. Remember to write down any questions you may have for me so when I call next week I can answer them. I will post my Wildlife Videos on tomorrow for you to see, I captured some badgers, a deer and a hare.
Daily Question Answer
The Olympic flag has a white background, with five interlaced rings in the center: blue, yellow, black, green and red. The design is symbolic; it represents the five continents of the world, while the six colours are those that appear on all the national flags of the world at the present time.
Have a good day and I will post on here tomorrow.
Wednesday 22nd April
Another good morning 5H, looks like it will be another sunny day again! I hope you are all staying positive and giving your minds active with some of the work we are setting you. I will be continuing to make calls to you this week, so if you have not heard from me yet, it will not be long! I am collecting my Wildlife Camera today so hopefully I will have some great animal pictures and videos to share with you.
The answer to my question from yesterday is:
So early English-speaking settlers in South Africa misinterpreted the "wijd" for "white" and the rhino with the wide mouth ended up being called the white rhino and the other one, with the narrow pointed mouth, was called the black rhinoceros.
Why are the colours on the Olympic rings so important, what do they represent?
Answer revealed tomorrow.
Hope you all have a great day and I will speak to you tomorrow!
Tuesday 21st April
Good morning 5H, what a lovely day it is, although a little windy! I have just gone out on a run around my village and now getting ready for the day. Last night I put my Wildlife camera out in the Nature Reserve by my house, so hopefully in a couple of days I will have some Badger pictures/videos for you to look at. Some of you will be hearing from me today as i make my weekly phone calls to you to check you are all ok and that you are finding the home learning work ok. I'm going to be making a short cricket video today for your P.E lesson tomorrow so hopefully you will enjoy that.
I am also going to put a daily question on here and on my Twitter account for you to try and answer and i will give the answer out tomorrow.
How did white and black rhinos get their names?
Hope you all have a fantastic day and I will speak to you tomorrow.
Monday 20th April
Good morning everyone, I hope you have all had a great Easter! I’ve certainly eaten a lot of Easter eggs over the past 2 weeks! Over Easter I have been doing a few diy jobs around my house, I have started to prepare my kitchen and upstairs for painting! This involves a lot of sanding and mess! I’m lucky enough to have a small gym in my garage which I have been using everyday to keep healthy but I have also started to try and make it feel like a gym than a garage. I have started to create a ‘pallet wall’, which is using unwanted wood from packaging companies. I will attach a picture below! I will be phoning you once a week to have a chat and to see how you are getting on at home, so don’t be surprised if you hear from me! I am filming you P.E lesson today which will be on the website on Wednesday! Hope you have a good day and I will speak to you tomorrow.
Thursday 2nd April
Good morning 5H
First of all, I hope you are all well and are enjoying the extra time spent with your family. Although some of you may be finding it hard not seeing your friends at school, we’ve been given a great opportunity to do lots of fun things with our brothers, sisters and parents. So make the most of it! I’ve already seen lots of great work and activities sent to me through Twitter and the Home Learning email address, so a big well done for working really hard! Maisie thank you for your Self Portrait of me it was fantastic, especially the crocodile living on the top of my head. Mae, I loved your rainbow art , cake baking (they looked delicious) and turning your brother into a spaceman lol.
So, what other fun things have you been up to? I have been going on daily walks to the local nature reserve behind my house (whilst making sure we are 2 metres away from other people!) and set up some camera traps to film the wildlife. I will attach some videos on here to show you an amazing encounter I had with a badger. I'm going to try and learn some new skills that I have always wanted to and next week I am going to start to learn about car engines, how they work, how to maintain them and improve them. I will share videos of my attempts each week, wish me luck, I hope i don't ruin my car!
Remember to try and get into a routine with your Home Learning, we will be putting a Weekly Timetable that you can follow in a few weeks and I will also be ringing you each week to see how you are getting on at home.
Remember, if you do any fun activities or want to share your amazing home learning, you can get an adult to email it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Look forward to seeing all the great work you’re doing. Remember, look after each other and stay safe.
