Spring Term 2020

The Anglo-Saxons

Our topic for this term is the Anglo Saxons. We will be learning all about the Anglo Saxons, exploring who they were, what they did and what they achieved. As a class, we have generated a list of questions that we would like to investigate over the course of the term. We will also be having an Anglo Saxon sewing morning on Wednesday 29th January, where we will utilise our sewing skills to create our very own Anglo Saxon brooches and badges! We hope to see some of you there!

Class Book

This term, we have started to read 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe' by CS Lewis.

Paul Klee

This term, we have been learning about the artist Paul Klee. He was from Switzerland and was an abstract artist. Paul Klee loved bright colours and often used shapes in his paintings. He liked to work using paint, chalk, crayons and pencils. In class, we explored some of his works of art and created our own paintings. We used the characters and places from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe as our inspiration.

Anglo-Saxon Sewing Morning

Wednesday 29th January 2020

Year 4 had great fun designing and making an Anglo-Saxon brooch. We looked at examples from Anglo-Saxon times and used this as our inspiration for our own brooches. Using felt, buttons and other pieces of material, we sewed our brooches together. Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles who came in to help us. Our brooches look great on the wall in our classroom.

World Book Day 2020

We had great fun dressing up for World Book Day. Our costumes represented different words. During the day, we wrote about the word we chose and designed our own book cover. In the afternoon, we made bookmarks and used ideas from Laura Ellen Anderson's Amelia Fang books as inspiration for some of our designs. We also played Taboo during Tops Time.
